New Sustainable Water Source
Water Reserve in EEC
The characteristic of Eastern part of Thailand is very wet during rainy season but drought during dry season
Currently, Chonburi and Rayong are the two provinces within the EEC designated as industrial zones. They rely on four main reservoirs: the Prasae, Nong Pla Lai, Dok Krai, and Bang Phra Reservoirs. In contrast, Chachoengsao only has two reservoirs: Khlong Si Yat and Khlong Rabom.
Due to several constraints, the opportunity to construct new reservoirs is very limited. Nevertheless, the region requires new water sources to support the vision of establishing the EEC area as a key gateway to Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific.
Zero-Sum
This reservoir will serve both human consumption and environmental preservation.
Reservoirs are limited
The existing reservoirs are insufficient to cover the demand for water usage.
Water sources are important to this region
To support the vision of transforming the EEC into a new economic hub.
Chachoengsao suffers from water scarcity
There are only two reservoirs: Khlong Si Yat Reservoir and Khlong Rabom Reservoir.
The project is permitted to draw 80 million cubic meter year
The water can be utilized more effectively within the area instead of letting the surplus flow uselessly.
Khlong Tha Lat Basin: The three main water sources of Chachoengsao
Our project is located at the downstream end of Khlong Tha Lat
Currently, Chachoengsao has three main water sources: surface runoff, Khlong Rabom Reservoir, and Khlong Si Yat Reservoir. Our project will serve as a new raw water source. We have been authorized to pump water during the rainy season (June–October). The total average available water volume is 1,459 million cubic meters, while our project will only pump 80 million cubic meters, which accounts for just 5.5% of the total volume, without affecting the environment or local communities.
This is water that would otherwise typically be allowed to flow unused into the Gulf of Thailand. Our project prioritizes the effective utilization of water and is committed to fostering sustainability for the area and its communities.
Water draw-off is permitted in the rainy season
Pumping capacity of 80 million cubic meters per year.
Our project is at Khlong Tha Lat's downstream end
Utilizing the water effectively instead of letting it drain.
Without impacting the environment
The utilized water volume has been calculated considering all water users.
Supporting economic expansion
Water resources are a key factor in developing industrial areas and communities.
To be a part of strengthening communities
Governance-based management coupled with a sustainable development strategy.
